AW RAIL – HILTI TOOLS
After some lengthy discussions and a very in-depth analysis of our small plant requirements, AW Rail Services are pleased to announce a collaboration with Hilti Tools to provide a range of their new 2022 battery powered tools along with their industry leading Hilti tool Fleet Management application, Hilti ON!Track.
Over 70 new items of kit, from battery operated dust removal systems to two trigger operational demolition drills, seen here delivered to our HQ in Folkestone, all will be issued to our core teams working on a long-term project for one of our valued clients, repairing and refurbishing brick arches across the rail network. These tools not only provide a welcome addition to our inventory but will allow our operatives to work safer on site, manage their time on tools more efficiently and, be more productive
So far, we have taken stock of these Hilti Nuron performance tools:
- M Class Dust Extractors
Dust Suppression Units
Breakers
Rotary Hammers
Impact Drivers
Lights
Grinders
Cut off saw’s
These tools will provide an easier and safer working environment for all our front line skilled & semi-skilled staff, removing the risk whilst on site, such as trip hazards and electrocution from original trailing cables (single battery platform, no more cables), safety cut out on hazardous tools, M-class dust management on site for maximum health & safety requirement and minimum two trigger operation for the high-risk small plant. Along with the elimination of carbon monoxide from generators and potential fire risk from fuelling, we at AW Rail can be proud of taking a proactive stance to a safer working practice initiative along with reducing our carbon emissions, all contributing to our Net Zero strategy.
Using Hilti tools and their monitoring application Hilti ON!Track , we will be able to keep a detailed track of our tools, how they are being used, hours being used (managing HAVS both before, during and after use of small tools) , alerts for both user and management when batteries need replacing. Allowing access to services that help us find missing equipment, identify under-used or hoarded tools, along with data from the latest Nuron tools which will allow us to make informed decisions on H&S, ensures compliance with PAT Testing, Calibrations and PUWER sheets.
We’d like to thank Adam Purcell at Hilti Tools for his ongoing support to bring this exciting project to fruition, along with Ian Welch for providing the analysis of our requirements, our HSE Manager Ian Purdie for overseeing the whole project and to Freddie Faiers for his work in monitoring, issuing and accountability of this new kit.
This is just one of the many new initiatives for more sustainable working practices here at AW Rail and across the whole AW Group.
