With the South East route network being complex, extremely busy and vital to the rail infrastructure here in the south, if not the rest of the country, maintaining this asset requires a variety of services and skill sets.
With advances in technology and updates required to the network we were extremely pleased to be awarded a contract of works under the Kent & Sussex Rewire project.
This scope of works undertaken by our highly skilled workforce saw us carrying out a variety of individual elements to the overall project.
- Installation of over 3km of troughing
- DNO concrete foundations
- Aux Transformer concrete foundations
- Over 900m of arco
- Access gates
- Walkways & hardstanding areas
- Provide additional heating & Lighting to track paralleling huts
Most of these works are carried out in rural areas, including working during the night, and getting delivery of materials to site is always part of the challenge when working on the railway. Most of the materials required for these jobs has to be walked through fields to the access point or carried alongside the track to the work site. We all know how heavy one bag of cement weighs, imagine having to move 50-100 across rough and unforgiving terrain.
Our teams would often make up the shuttering and partitions for pouring the foundation slabs off site allowing easier installation on site.
Vegetation management played a crucial part in getting these materials safely to and from site for our operatives to carry out the works.
