PHIL BLAKE

My role here at AW Rail as Senior Quantity Surveyor started in January 2025 and my main responsibilities lie in the preparation, negotiation, co-ordination, cost analysis and overviewing all work enquiries.

With continuing involvement throughout the project lifespan, offering advice on best practice, gained through previously owning a civil engineering business, assisting with successful delivery of the projects and being an integral link between the commercial and operations team.

With my primary role and responsibilities being to gather, prepare and submit quotations from client enquiries, cost reports, analyses, contract budgets, agree variation compensation events and profit and loss contract specific assessments.

During my career I’ve focused on empowering others to unlock their full potential, I aim to build on our culture and environment of inclusion and collaboration within the rail industry, clients supply chain and other stakeholders.

Committed to setting clear objectives, communicating, and executing plans with precision being motivated by detailed cost analysis and with over 25 years industrial experience, my specialties lie within the Civil Engineering sector.

My goals are to identify and develop new opportunities and drive sustainable growth in undertaking specialist civils packages throughout the rail and construction industry. Relentless in the pursuit of continuous improvement, innovation, and problem solving whilst challenging the status quo to improve client and colleague experience.
