AW Construction – Driving Electric –  sustainability isn’t a marketing line or a passing trend. For us, responsible construction means paying attention to the long-term impact of our operations and steadily improving the way we deliver projects for our clients and communities.

A major part of this commitment is the ongoing transition of our company fleet to electric vehicles. This shift is not symbolic—it is a deliberate, practical step toward lowering our environmental footprint while strengthening the efficiency and reliability of our daily operations.

We have recently introduced three new electric vans to our fleet, marking a meaningful milestone in this transition. These vans are already being deployed on local projects based near our headquarters in Folkestone, where electric vehicles offer clear advantages: reduced emissions, quieter travel through residential areas, and lower operating costs over time. Their performance on these routes provides us with valuable data and real-world experience as we continue to shape the future of our fleet.

Planning is also underway for trials on more distant projects, particularly across our expanding operations in London. The potential here is significant. Electric vans offer quieter, lower-carbon travel between sites—an important benefit in busy urban environments were noise and air quality matter to local communities. As charging infrastructure continues to improve, the practicality and efficiency of electric transport can only grow stronger.

While this may be one change among many within our wider ESG efforts, it represents a step that carries real weight. Every mile driven electrically reduces our carbon output. Every van added to the fleet moves us closer to our long-term environmental goals. Every decision like this reinforces a culture where sustainability isn’t an afterthought but an integral part of the business.

Our transition doesn’t stop with these three vans. Alongside this, we now operate eight electric cars, some of which are in their third year of operation, used by staff across different departments. These vehicles support site visits, client meetings, and day-to-day travel, ensuring that sustainable transport runs through the entire business—not just our construction teams.

Together, these vehicles form a growing fleet that reflects our commitment to responsible operations. They are not only reducing emissions on paper; they are out on the road every day, carrying materials, transporting our teams, and representing AW Construction with a cleaner, quieter, and more forward-thinking approach – keep an eye out for them!
