It’s not just the railways that we work on!?

Here at AW Rail the skills and knowledge of our Project Managers and teams are sometimes called upon to carry out works outside of the rail environment. Carrying out a multitude of works and upgrades across the rail network for our clients, whether that be a simple handrail, or a more complicated civils project means our skills are easily transferable into other areas.

Recently we were contacted by our valued client AmcoGiffen to carry out some safety upgrades on the River Graveney and Norbury Brook as part of a work package for the Environment Agency. These works included:

• Upgrade of access areas to the riverConcrete Hardstands
• Handrails
• Ladder Brackets (for entry into the river)
• Fencing Upgrades
• Carrying out Pull Tests on newly installed handrails and guards

It is certainly a pleasant change for our teams to be working in different environments, but the same strict health & safety criteria applies and many of our operatives have been trained to work in such areas. With river sides being popular with the public special attention had to be considered to minimise the risk to people passing whilst keeping our teams safe. Just like working on the railway access and working in tight areas comes as second nature to us!

Even with the current weather we have been experiencing in the UK our team managed to complete the schedule of works a week early for our client.
