CHAMPION STORES – PORTSMOUTH

We hit the ground running in 2022 and one of our teams are on site with the new fit out of a retail unit for Champion in Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth. A unit we’d previously “white boxed” for an exiting tenant so we knew the unit well when approached by Champion.

Another fit out completed on time, within budget and delivered safely to our client.

From a “white boxed” unit to a store ready to receive merchandise the skill of our construction team and management of the project by Paul Woodbury ensured that the challenges that did present themselves were dealt with in an efficient and professional manner.

One design feature that sticks out, literally, is the use of a brick slip wall on a new standalone stud wall in front of the new fitting rooms, where using purpose made brick slips was out of the question, due to the extra-long lead time of these, so a Plan B was quickly put into place, where we cut our own brick slips in our workshop and transported them to site, ensuring that no delays were incurred in completing this project.

As the principal contractor on this project, we worked closely with our client to ensure the detail and changes they required to handover a finished store was met.

Whilst on site we had a Health & Safety Audit carried out by Pick Everard and are proud to share their feedback – “There were no negative observations to report. The site was well run and organised”

This was one of the first projects we worked on within Gunwharf Quays shopping centre  and our approach to completing this project in a timely fashion, with minimal disruption to other stakeholders and the general public, won us further works with Gunwahrf Quays.
