BRIEF DESCRIPTION

AW Rail Services provided Safety Critical Staff (PIC’s) to one of our valued clients who are undertaking works on behalf of Network Rails £1million pledge to plant thousands of trees in several locations across London, Kent, Sussex, and Surrey over the next three years.

Our staff are providing safe access to the sites that the planting teams are deployed too, these teams are removing the existing invasive vegetation and replanting with British species, as well as reseeding further areas with a mixture of meadow grass and woodland mix.

This is happening in Chichester along a 13-mile section of track to help create an ecological corridor for wildlife, the replanting is being done away from the operational railway to avoid further tree falls, leaf fall on the line, now and in the future.

Where old line side buildings have fallen into disrepair these are being transformed into roosting sites for bats, owls, and insects.

AW Rail are proud to play a part in this important project for our client and look forward to the continued development of Network Rails commitment to improving the UK’s rail network environment and sustainability mandate.

AW Rail provide several line side services for vegetation management, including rope access, spraying and arborist, replanting and general labour. Please contact our Rail Manager Jason Stokes for further details.
