With our works in the arches continuing across London, the Southeast and further afield when we were approached by our client Bridgeway Consulting Ltd to assist them with inspection services we jumped at the chance to showcase our skills and knowledge of working in and around rail arches to its full potential.
Here at AW Rail our experience working on the arches, particularly those close to or underneath the rail network is extensive. Undertaking brickwork repairs and other specialist requirements across London and the Southeast puts us in an ideal position for the differing types of works required to bring back and maintain this extensive and unique collection of properties, some of which are in use, but many others are awaiting modernisation, repair and refurbishment for future occupation.
On site here at Hackney Downs in East London we undertook the careful removal and strip out of the existing cladding within this arch to expose the brickwork beneath so that a structural survey could be undertaken.
As with all our projects we like to take the opportunity to conduct team talks on the required method of works, appropriate tool use and any specialist requirements of the client, alongside this any safety talks, in this case a refresher course for our team who were working at height for most of the time.
Once the structural survey was complete, the reinstatement of the cladding had to be undertaken, as we had removed this carefully, numbering each section as it came down, the reinstatement was conducted quickly, safely and on programme schedule.
With this ongoing programme of works we are looking forward to working on more of London’s iconic arch network over the coming months.
