AW Rail is proud to announce the successful attainment of our Gas Safe accreditation, strengthening our ability to deliver a complete range of gas safety checks, inspections, and maintenance services across the rail industry and wider infrastructure sector. This achievement represents another key step in our commitment to providing fully compliant, safe, and reliable engineering solutions to our clients.

Our accreditation means we can now independently carry out Gas Safe-certified work, including the inspection, servicing, repair, and installation of gas systems and appliances across depots, stations, offices, and operational facilities. This capability allows us to provide a seamless service alongside our established mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering operations—ensuring that our clients benefit from a single, trusted contractor able to handle all aspects of building and infrastructure maintenance.

Our first project under this new qualification has been the annual gas safety inspection at Plumstead Depot, where we’ve undertaken a full assessment of the boilers and associated systems responsible for heating the site’s office facilities and train maintenance shed. Beyond the statutory inspection, AW Rail has been awarded a 12-month call-out contract to provide responsive support, ensuring that any faults or performance issues are swiftly resolved with minimal disruption to daily operations.

During the initial survey at Plumstead Depot, our engineers identified a conflict of control within the existing heating system, which had been impacting energy efficiency and operational reliability. We are now working closely with the client to implement a long-term solution that restores effective system management and reduces running costs. Additionally, we are developing plans for a new heating installation to serve the maintenance shed rooms at Plumstead, further expanding the site’s capacity for year-round comfort and productivity.

This project underlines AW Rail’s growing technical capability of services and our proactive, solutions-driven approach to asset management. With our new Gas Safe accreditation, we are now positioned to deliver the same level of expertise and reliability across the wider rail network and beyond—supporting clients with compliant, efficient, and safe gas system services across a range of operational environments.
