PROJECT OVERVIEW

Over the years we have carried out several long-term frameworks covering a multitude of services. One of these was to carry out creating several new access points as well as upgrading existing.

Within the scope of works we were installing new access gates, footpaths, retaining walls and handrails to provide safe access to track paralleling huts and lineside equipment as part of the trackworker safety program.

Of course, there are times when just getting to the track or site has its challenges and a lot of vegetation management was required to enable the works. When we plan and survey these works, we must consider such things as access, make up of any ingress/egress tracks or paths, limited ability to deliver materials, flooded work areas and a whole lot more.

Whilst these might be seen as negatives to working in these environments and carrying out this type of work the over riding positives of providing safer access to the infrastructure for rail workers, negating the need for line blockages or possessions to carry out essential maintenance outweighs them.
