Toolbox Talks – When you’re running several projects at the same time on a construction site then briefing your team at the start of each day is essential in making sure your projects run smoothly
At AW Construction we make sure that all our teams on site are given a full site induction when first arriving to site, enforcing safety messages and site requirements, then applying principles learned from working with our valued client Wates making sure that before each shift a “Start Right” briefing takes place to ensure that the whole team knows what is going on before any work commences.
More importantly it is a chance for members of our site teams to ask questions in relation to the projects they are working on highlighting any issues they face for us to ensure a smoothly run, safe site.
What are “Toolbox Talks” all about
Our site supervisors conduct “Toolbox Talks” that highlights any issues our site teams might come up against. On our current large projects at Portsmouth, we have had to cover:
- Covid – Government guidelines update
- Asbestos Awareness
- Fire Safety
- Preventing Slips, Trips and Falls
- Working Safely at Height
- Mental Health
- Manual Handling
- Hazardous Weather and Night Working
- Hazardous Substances
- Environmental Awareness
With multiple trades on site our project/site supervisors want to ensure the safety of everyone, and we have a strict safety talk sign in sheet and site safety procedures clearly visible on all sites we are involved with.
All of this ensures that our sites are run safely and ensures that our projects are delivered to our clients without incident. On projects where we have had site audits, we have maintained our record of 100% excellence.
