AW RAIL – EKC COLLEGE
AW Rail – Bricklayers of the future!
We’ve be known to order the odd brick or two for the specialist brickwork we carry out across the rail network, from arches, viaducts, bridges, tunnels, retaining walls and a whole lot more. Our QS team are pretty accurate when it comes to ordering the right quantities, inevitably we do get a few surplus (or damaged) bricks from time to time.
Over the past year we have been segregating this surplus brick supply, some might have superficial damage or just not the right colour for the job, so really can’t be used in the projects we carry out.
However, they are ideal for students studying bricklaying! This week we had the pleasure in delivering a good, varied stock to EKC in Folkestone for their students to use as part of their coursework.
EKC Folkestone is just a short distance from our yard so also gave us the opportunity to test our latest flat bed vehicle, whilst we have the luxury of being able to load the pallets at our yard via telehandler the students at EKC soon organised themselves to swiftly unload our vehicle swiftly and safely by hand.
Across both construction and rail, we look forward to developing our relationship with EKC College here in Folkestone, already scheduled are some very interesting talks about the industry and those looking to enter it. Many thanks to Heather Williams at EKC for her time and patience in allowing us to strike up this collaboration.
We all know of the shortage of bricklayers across the construction industry and are always keen to engage with other local schools, colleges for careers talks or industry specific talks, do please get in touch.
AW Rail Services have been delivering rail projects for several years right across the Rail & Construction sector.
Our extensive rail experience of over 120 years, combining decades of hands-on knowledge, providing building enhancements and maintenance solutions, improving infrastructure for passengers and operators, delivering major projects, and fulfilling long-term maintenance contracts really sets us apart.
Our services are varied from structural maintenance on tunnels, bridges, foot crossings, signal gantries, to station refurbishment, platform enhancements, civils works on and around the track, the mechanism management of lineside vegetation and further afield, painting of all types of structures and lastly but perhaps most importantly the provision of rail labour, not only supporting the projects we carry out for our projects but for the provision of labour to other clients.
