This week we had the opportunity to talk with students at EKC Folkestone about careers within AW Rail & AW Construction. With the college teaching a number of construction related courses we focused on the brickwork element of works we carry out here across AW Group.

Being able to show a wide variety of structures and environments in which we work gave them an insight into another avenue to consider once their course comes to a finish from the more traditional career paths available to them.

Having supported the college with a wide range of materials that have been included in the curriculum the students have been undertaking also helps with our sustainability and social value programme here at AW Group.

Thanks to all the Level 2 Bricklaying students who took part and showed an interest, particularly in a career within the rail industry. We hope that showing students studying subjects like brickwork projects that we undertake will give them a more creative view of the careers available within the commercial construction sector, locally here in Folkestone and further afield.

Our continued support and collaboration with the college, not just here in Folkestone, will hopefully allow us to work together on some exciting projects delivering social value, improving our sustainable recycling initiative, within the local communities to which we operate and allowing students to gain experience of working with commercial organisations like ourselves.
