AW RAIL – VJ TECHNOLOGIES iSTORE NEWS
We’ve been fortunate enough to have a VJ Technologies iStore sited at our yard here in Folkestone for some time. This next generation procurement solution allows us to hold sufficient stock of everyday consumables that we use here at AW Rail, monitoring stock levels and automatically ordering as and when required. Allowing our staff more efficient use of their time in running a busy rail construction facility.
This dedicated highly secure onsite container means that the stock we hold reduces the number of vehicle movements and therefore has a positive reduction of emissions across the construction supply chain, thanks to the solution’s simple mode: we drive less and stock more, enough to last weeks at a time. So, we help keep more delivery vans off the road each week. This means our road emissions along with our supply chains reach new lows whilst our on-site productivity reaches new highs.
Running alongside this efficient stock level and ordering system is the VJ iStore tree-planting project run in association with Ecologi. For the orders we place it helps fund high-quality tree-planting projects across the globe. Each project is carefully chosen by the VJ Technology Impact team for the benefits they bring to local people and nature, restoring habitats and supporting local livelihoods.
So far, we have supported the planting of over 300 trees across locations such as Madagascar, Peru, Uganda encouraging tree planting and preservation activities within select regions through our local branch here at Ashford, Kent.
Planting trees has several benefits for mitigating climate change, supporting biodiversity and also for human health. As a climate solution, the conservation and restoration of forests is a key solution because it helps to sink carbon from the atmosphere and store it in the trees’ biomass.
