AW CONSTRUCTION – JOS MARNHAM SPONSORSHIP
AW Construction – Sponsorship of Jos Marnham 2024 UK National & British BMX Champion
We are delighted to announce that AW Construction will be sponsoring Jos Marnham as he heads towards the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. As a member of the National British Cycling Olympic Program, we wish Jos all the best as he trains hard and competes in a number of national and international events over the coming months and years.
We have been chatting to Jos about his career in the competitive world of BMX and the huge number of podium positions he has attained over the years:
Three years after being born in Woolwich London in February 2003, Jos began to ride bikes in general and began to participate in BMX racing at the age of 5 for Hersden Harriers BMX club. Following many years on the BMX circuit supported by family who are based in Folkestone, team members and other competitors Jos attained a number of major podium wins within the class he races in.
Since 2021, Jos has lived in Birmingham to pursue an academic career alongside his racing one in Psychology and spends time around his racing commitments coaching at Birmingham BMX club at the grass roots level as well as coaching numerous riders nationwide remotely.
Following the 2024 season Jos has joined the National British Cycling Olympic Program for the 2028 Los Angeles games and partnered with ‘Prophecy BMX’, ‘MRD Number Plates’, ‘Just 1 Racing’, ‘ODI Grips’, ‘Lake Cycling’, ‘HT components’ and ‘Schwalbe tyres’.
When Jos was first asked to be part of the program, he wasn’t overly excited but proud and happy he was abroad with family to share the news in person. However, when he walked into the National Cycling Centre for the first time wearing GBCT kit, meeting other new riders joining for the first time, getting introduced to the support team, and training alongside the GBCT squad—it then sank in. He felt a deep sense of pride in being invited onto the program.
Unlike most, if not all others, Jos hadn’t come through any of the typical development pathway programs. His selection shows there is no single route to the top and that everyone’s paths are different but do not determine where they end up with hard work, consistency, and commitment.
Recently, Jos has been training in Manchester once a week while still based in Birmingham, balancing the travel with his usual routine. He also spent time in Verona, Italy, attending two separate training camps ahead of the season. There, he rode alongside strong European riders, pushing his level, building new skills, and connecting with the international racing scene.
We will be publishing further updates on our Jos Marnham Sponsorship which includes gym membership and some financial support over the coming months as he trains hard for not only the 2028 Olympics but many races inbetween. We are hoping that he can impart a few training tips for our team, delving into his superior knowledge of cycle fitness, who are taking part not only in the Pilgrims Cycle Challenge in May but our own fundraising ride to Paris in June!
