We are pleased to announce the start of an exciting new project that combines the skills of our construction operatives with possibly, one of the best views in Folkestone. Situated directly above Folkestone Harbour, the view from the roof of this block of flats enjoys a sweeping sea view across the channel and down towards the coast at Dungeness, and our team has been brought in to deliver a comprehensive programme of enhancement works that will not only preserve the building but also improve the living environment for its residents.

In preparation for this project for FHDC, a full scaffold has now been erected around the property, providing safe and secure access for our operatives. With the scaffold in place, our team has begun the initial stages of repair and refurbishment, setting the pace for what will be several weeks of focused and carefully managed work.

The scope of the project is wide-ranging and designed to address both essential repairs and long-term improvements. Key elements of the programme include:

• Concrete surface repairs to restore the building’s structural integrity and prevent future deterioration.

• Brickwork repairs to maintain the strength and appearance of the external façade.

• Cleaning and decorating of railings, enhancing both safety and visual appeal.

• Replacement of rainwater downpipes, ensuring proper drainage and preventing water ingress.

• Triflex waterproofing installation to balconies, providing long-lasting protection against the elements.

• Decoration works to the front elevation, giving the building a refreshed, modern look.

• Removal of asbestos cavity trays and downpipes, carried out under strict safety controls.

• Installation of new cavity trays, ensuring improved weather resistance.

• Fitting of cavity insulation behind windows, improving thermal efficiency and reducing heat loss.

• Installation of new windows, providing residents with upgraded fittings that improve comfort and energy performance.

As with all our projects, safety and communication are central to our approach. Our newly installed AW Construction site signage plays a crucial role in this. The signage clearly defines active working zones, allowing residents and visitors to move around the building safely and with confidence. In addition, a segregated pedestrian pathway has been created to separate foot traffic from site storage areas, minimising disruption and keeping the surrounding environment orderly.
