Hythe – Blooming Marvellous!

This year we’ve been proud to support the wonderful floral displays brightening up Hythe. If you’re travelling into Waitrose from Folkestone, you would have spotted them as you turn off into the supermarket car park, then again at the bridge on Stade Street, and finally continuing along the A259 towards the Red Lion Pub – all part of Hythe in Bloom.

Throughout the summer, the flower baskets flourished and brought colour and joy to residents and visitors alike. Their vibrant displays became a much-loved feature of the town, lifting spirits and showcasing what can be achieved when community and local businesses work together.

Keeping them in such good condition required a real team effort. During the hot, dry spells, our operatives at AW Construction were out early in the mornings, sometimes two or three times a week, to water the baskets before heading onto their work sites. To make the process more sustainable, we even retrofitted an IBC tank with a water pump recycled from another construction project – a great example of reusing resources while supporting the community.

The project has now come to an end, finishing just in time for some heavy rain across the district to take over the watering duties! A huge thank you goes to the AW Construction team for their hard work and commitment, and to Sally Chesters, organiser of Hythe in Bloom, for inviting us to be part of such a fantastic initiative.

Overseen by our Project Manager, Dan Jones, whose enthusiasm and gardening knowledge kept the team motivated, this project is another example of how we enjoy contributing to local life alongside our wide variety of public and private sector works across the Folkestone district and beyond.
