Agester Farm Lodge is a new detached triple bay garage with a self-contained one-bedroom apartment above designed and built to complement the existing estate buildings and environs. Energy efficient by design, this new development offers the very best of modern and convenient living. With spacious, modern interiors and first-class fixtures and fittings throughout, no detail has been overlooked in the quest to ensure that the client’s vision for this project has been surpassed.
Working closely with the client who had a particular set of requirements for this phase of their development process and a clear vision for the ongoing development of the estate which sits within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the Kent countryside.
The project started just as the UK was put into lockdown for Covid during 2020, and the resulting restarts of works when allowed faced several challenges, the greatest being the supply of materials to complete the project and the long lead times for bespoke items that went into the project. Access to site, especially for delivery of material had to be carefully planned, Agester Farm Estate sits down a narrow country lane off a very busy road, turning onto the property is tight even for the most skilled delivery driver, therefore we often had materials delivered to an adjacent piece of land and then transported to site location by smaller vehicles and plant.
Within the estate is a small parcel of ancient oak woodland and the careful use of oak pillars, along with oak garage doors, which overtime will weather nicely added to the clients exacting brief. Works were finally completed in early 2021 and the client was able to make use of the facility to house his extensive collection of motorbikes.
With the client being very happy with the resulting level of finish and detail, we have moved on to Phase II of the site which will incorporate a larger 3 bedroomed guest house with a vaulted open plan living area, also having a ground source heat pump system and storage, Solar PV, along with careful landscaping to capture the views across the valley in which the property sits.
