I’ve lived and breathed construction for all my adult life, leaving school at 16 to go to college studying a carpentry and joinery apprenticeship.

It’s then that my construction career took me down a variety of paths including a great period running my own companies across a multitude of disciplines. Overseeing reactive and contract works for several local authorities, Royal Mail, Met Police, Hyde Park Estates and many more across London and the Southeast.

Whilst doing this I started a rail company looking after maintenance contract works for Network Rail, Euston to Birmingham New Street and stations in between. Continued with Rail works, DDA access, Security ticket windows, Station upgrades, W.C Upgrades working for LOROL, C2C, Southeastern, Chiltern railways. Refurbished the headquarters of London Over Ground in Swiss Cottage and Chiltern Railways in Marylebone Station.

Working with a QS for six years estimating contract works for JCT, IFC and NEC forms of contract works. By the time I reached 30 I decided to go back to college to complete my HNC building Construction and then went to Greenwich University to complete my Honours Degree in Building Surveying.

My career then continued within the building surveying sector completing home buyers’ surveys, schedules of dilapidations, residential and commercial whilst still working alongside my rail and construction company which continued for over 25 years.

After 35 years doing the above, I decided to purchase a plot of land in Welling Kent where I built 12 houses and then continued with new build development. Reducing my works for rail, and surveying I then concentrated on New Builds where I completed some 80 houses.

At 50 I then decided to commence work for a local company (Jenners) who I worked for 4 years contracts Managing works to build Health Centres, Schools, and housing projects throughout Kent.

After 4 years with Jenners I went back to London to work, completing works at various locations in London, mainly refurbishment projects internally and externally before coming to AW Construction for a quieter life!
