I have worked for AW Rail since June last year, previously working at Travis Perkins for 15 years actually supplying AW Rail with heavy plant, small tools and materials. Knowing how they worked and some of the team here, when a role for a new Transport Manager came along, they gave me the opportunity to come on board and make this role my own.
Not having much experience in the rail sector, the team have been very supportive in mentoring and allowing me to gain the knowledge required to support them in their day-to-day activities.
With a fleet of over 50 vehicles of various types and an even bigger pool of drivers wanting these vehicles keeping them ready and fit for work is a full-time job! Efficiently managing drivers and staff, ensuing company compliance in all transport policies, legislation and procedures.
Monitoring vehicles out on the road to make sure we are not exceeding idling times, shortest routes to work sites all goes to our Net Zero road map.
During the course of 2024 I am studying for a diploma in Transport Management.
