Here at AW Group, we are proud to have been part of Woodpeckers of Kent’s journey through 2022, if only a small part of the large amount waste wood collected by Erik and his team.

The waste wood from construction and rail projects has seen many uses and transformations in the hands of Erik Uebel and his team, they reused over 70% of wood collected from organisations like us across Kent. We have seen first hand the type of goods that have been made from wood reuse and the joy that it brings to local communities.

We have already seen the positive impact being part of these schemes brings, with sustainability becoming a greater part of tender submitting and organisations looking more closely at the companies environmental impact they are engaging with this can only be part of a positive solution for all.

Being able to see the type of waste returned to our site from our projects we can better understand how to manage efficiently these products within the lifecycle of the project, helping us to educate not only our operatives but also encourage our clients to think differently about the way we all use materials.

Throughout the UK there are many community wood recycling organisations, and we will certainly be looking to further engage with these as our projects develop UK wide during 2023 and beyond.
