We had the pleasure of being invited to the Green School Awards here in Ashford, Kent today, a scheme which celebrates and inspires positive action for our planet.

It is extremely humbling to hear how pupils as young as five want to share a passion for making a real difference to the environment in which we live. Not just at their schools or colleges but taking these ideas home to family, friends, and the wider community.

As businesses I’m sure we all think that we’ve heard it all, but how wrong can we be? The initiatives and ideas that pupils have put into action clearly demonstrates the creativity and dedication that young people have in driving positive climate change and we can all learn from them, taking some of these ideas and actioning them into our own sustainability, environmental and social value strategies.

Here at AW Group, we are always looking at ways we can collaborate with local schools, colleges and other organisations or businesses to reduce waste and/or divert it away from landfill. It’s only by collaboration that we can help each other and identify uses for our waste streams and build long term lasting sustainable relationships.
