AW Construction – The next generation of painters & decorators?
We are lucky enough to engage with several colleges offering a variety of construction related courses on their curriculum. One of the overriding things that we take away from these conversations is that education budgets are being cut and schools, colleges, universities are finding it increasingly difficult to purchase materials so that students can practice with a wider range of commercial stock as possible. Which is somewhat ironic given the governments push to get more people into the construction industry.
With the various refurbishment works that we carry out here at AW Construction over the years we have built up a stock of material for reuse on other projects, however, with the fast pace at which the construction industry is evolving, some of these materials are not as popular as they once were.
Our conversations with EKC here in Folkestone highlighted a need for students to practice with a wide variety of commercial finishes as part of their course work and when we told them we had a supply of Muraspec wallpaper they jumped at the chance to take this off our hands.
So, this week, on perhaps the coldest day of 2024 so far, we delivered several rolls of commercial wallpaper and adhesive to the college here in Folkestone. We are looking forward to hearing how the students get on and pictures of their completed test pieces in the future.
