AW GROUP – PILGRIMS HOSPICE FUNDRAISING 2025
This year will see an intrepid team from AW Group cycle from our offices here in Folkestone along the coast to Newhaven and then a short ferry journey to France where they will head for a finish line in Paris, hopefully, in true Tour de France style on the Champs-Élysées!
Whilst there will be one or two team members who are accomplished cyclists for some of our team it will be the first time out on a bike in a very long while. The team started training early for this, and many have been giving up their time early in the morning to train in the local gym in readiness for the gruelling miles to Paris.
Why are we doing this?
Pilgrims Hospice Fundraising 2025 -This year our charity of choice is Pilgrims Hospice who we support in many ways, not only raising them vital funds for their critical care of patients across their hospice venues but also in materials for the growing number of shops they have across the county.
At its heart, Pilgrims is dedicated to providing skilled and compassionate care, free of charge, to people living with an incurable illness in east Kent. Their vision is that people with a life-limiting illness are supported and empowered to live well in mind & body, making the most of the time they have. They care for over 2,500 patients a year, at their 3 inpatient units in Canterbury, Thanet & Ashford, their therapy centres, or in patients’ own homes. With 80% of their funding being voluntary contributions, your support cannot be overstated.
We will be putting together a full list of opportunities to join us in raising funds, not only supporting our cycling team but also several other key fundraising activities that the rest of the staff, clients and other stakeholders will be taking part here at AW Group
Not only will our team be cycling to Paris, but they will also be taking part in the 15th Anniversary Cycle Challenge organised by Pilgrims Hospice in May traversing 75 miles of the more glorious parts of the Kentish countryside – a fitting way to see if their legs can hold out on the daily mileage they will need to cover as they head towards Paris in June.
Alongside our cycling team other staff members and their families will be undertaking the Pilgrims Way Challenge from Dover to Canterbury on the same weekend our team are finishing on the Champs-Élysées in Paris !
