The natural landscape of the UK was formed long before someone came up with the bright idea of the railways and therefore over the course of decades the rail infrastructure has had to be coaxed across valleys, through mountains, over or under roads and occasionally a bit of water gets in the way!
Surveys and examinations of the structures that carry the rail line still must be carried out no matter where they might cross or go through. We were recently asked to carry out some vegetation works on a rail bridge that crossed a river so that a structural examination could take place.
As we undertake a wide range of vegetation services we have access to several highly trained and experienced operatives from our pool of staff that enables us to complete works in any situation, making sure of course that safety is of the utmost importance when carrying out these works.
The vegetation that required clearing on this bridge could only be accessed safely from the water, so we dispatched two of our more knowledge operatives, gave them a refresher course on water training, and along with a thorough safety briefing let them set sail onto Sixteen Foot Drain, a drainage bank in the heart of the Cambridgeshire countryside.
Having completed the works, we then assisted the surveying team allowing them to carry out the inspection of the bridge safely and without incident.
This is just one of the many vegetation projects we carry out each week, along with assisting a wide variety of clients with staffing to carry out inspections safely across a wide part of the rail infrastructure across the UK.
