Our recycling initiatives continue to develop and this month alone we have successfully entered some more collaborations with local school and community organisations.

Our strip out and shop fitting projects often generate waste that is ideal for reuse rather than general waste and we are always impressed by the things that these materials get made into. Timber plays a particularly large part of our recycling efforts. Alongside this with the repairs that we carry out across tunnels, arches, bridges, viaducts within our rail division, we manage to save as many bricks as possible for reuse that have come out of these projects or are of secondary quality that we would not want to use.

School, colleges that offer course on Bricklaying, Carpentry Painting & Decorating, Electricians and more have all benefited from our reuse scheme. This is particularly gratifying as all our materials are of construction grade and the dwindling budgets in education cannot often stretch to the materials we are supplying.

From pre-schools and up we are seeing more and more focusing on the environment and sustainability, teaching children from an early age about the world and community in which they live can only be a good thing.

Community projects, whether that be a small community garden or allotment to more ambitious schemes have also benefited from what we would just class as waste, we’ve seen some elaborate compost bays made from wooden pallets through to impressive trellis walls made for growing vegetables on.
