AW RAIL – JASON STOKES – RAIL MANAGER
I’m Jason Stokes and as Rail Manager here at AW Rail I am responsible for allocating and scheduling AW Rail resources to ensure projects are resourced and the correct personnel are used for a wide range of clients.
It’s a team effort to make sure each and every project or staffing requirement no matter how small or large is programmed via our resourcing applications (Infinity) and that this is then communicated to our operatives on the ground.
Here is a brief insight into my average day:
Planning the works
Along with a great team beside me I identify the resources needed for a project and develop plans for resource allocation and use resource management tools to track resource utilisation.
Scheduling the works
As Rail Manager I assign employees and staff to projects dependent upon their skills and the clients’ requirements.
Managing capacity for the works
Ultimately, I ensure AW Rail has the right resources to deliver projects and manage the number of employees/operatives who are assigned to a project.
Communicating the works package
As Rail Manager I’m communicating objectives, expectations, and project timelines to team members involved, stakeholders, and most importantly our clients.
Conflict resolution during the works
Along with my colleagues here within the AW Rail team I’m here to address conflicts within teams or between clients and other stakeholders and find mutually beneficial solutions.
Of course, none of the above would happen without the significant labour resource we have at our fingertips here at AW Rail and the highly efficient collaborative way in which the whole team work together to complete the various works and projects that we are contracted to undertake.
Finally, it would be easy for me to say that I just sit in a warm office allocating resources, but for those that know me I can often be find out on site acting as Engineering Supervisor / Level A supporting clients.
Over the years AW Rail have scheduled tens of thousands of hours of resource within the rail industry covering a wide range of skill sets, competencies and levels of accreditation for the works or tasks required.
But don’t take my word for it, read what some of our clients say here:

AW Rail Services have been delivering rail projects for several years right across the Rail & Construction sector.
Our extensive rail experience of over 120 years, combining decades of hands-on knowledge, providing building enhancements and maintenance solutions, improving infrastructure for passengers and operators, delivering major projects, and fulfilling long-term maintenance contracts really sets us apart.
Our services are varied from structural maintenance on tunnels, bridges, foot crossings, signal gantries, to station refurbishment, platform enhancements, civils works on and around the track, the mechanism management of lineside vegetation and further afield, painting of all types of structures and lastly but perhaps most importantly the provision of rail labour, not only supporting the projects we carry out for our projects but for the provision of labour to other clients.
