With such a wide variety of services and works carried out here at AW Rail we need to know that we have the operatives with relevant qualifications to make sure that these are carried out correctly and safely.
Our policy of continuous upskilling and training staff runs right across the company, leading from the top down. Our resources and training team oversee this task making sure that our operatives standard and specialist competencies do not lapse, along with training others with new qualifications to meet the demands of our clients and industry requirements.
Just this year we have carried out a wide range of training and staff have qualified with new practices and skills.
Within our management team:
- Freddie passed out from University with a QS degree
- Jason undertook IOSH for Managers & Directors alongside completing and gaining his NEBOSH accreditation.
- Greg – Ecological and Small Mammal, Surveying Techniques, Reptile ID & Surveying Techniques, Flood Warning Training , Underwater Forests Surveying (Kelp Surveys)
- Jerzy – Apprentice QS – Skill4Stem University Course – ongoing
- Other managers – Level 7 Construction Site Management / Site Safety / Mental Health First Aiders / Railway recertification courses various.

- 10 operatives on Harness user courses
- 2 operatives on SMSTS Site Manager
- 4 operatives – SSSTS Site Supervisors
- 2 operatives – Water jetting course
- 2 operatives – working on water/boat ops
- 30 + Railway recertification courses or on-site assessments to prove competency
- Over 30 individual webinars and online assessments from Supply Chain Sustainability School
- Over 130 Online ATLAS training courses completed (including Work at height awareness / fire safety / RIDDOR / HAVS / COSHH / Manual Handling)
The overseeing of our training schedule does not stop, regular training sessions for employees throughout their employment, aiming to continuously develop their skills and knowledge to align with the company’s, client and industry requirements evolving needs and goals, fostering professional growth and improvement over time.

AW Rail Services have been delivering rail projects for several years right across the Rail & Construction sector.
Our extensive rail experience of over 120 years, combining decades of hands-on knowledge, providing building enhancements and maintenance solutions, improving infrastructure for passengers and operators, delivering major projects, and fulfilling long-term maintenance contracts really sets us apart.
Our services are varied from structural maintenance on tunnels, bridges, foot crossings, signal gantries, to station refurbishment, platform enhancements, civils works on and around the track, the mechanism management of lineside vegetation and further afield, painting of all types of structures and lastly but perhaps most importantly the provision of rail labour, not only supporting the projects we carry out for our projects but for the provision of labour to other clients.
