AW GROUP – THREE PEAKS CHALLENGE – HIKE’S 5 & 6
The whole team has been training as hard as they can for our charity challenge event in June, when we attempt the Three Peaks Challenge in 24 hrs!
Searching out new hiking routes locally and further afield taking full advantage of the varied terrain that Folkestone and the surrounding area provides. With hikes across the cliffs towards Dover taking in The Warren on the return leg to an intrepid trip to Wales for some of the team to experience conditions in the mountains ahead of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon.

Last weekend a small team (Pants, Sam and Greg) headed off to Wales from Folkestone in the early hours to hike the “Brecon Horseshoe”. Staring with an invigorating climb up onto the Beacons Way and along the ridges towards Fan y Big, onto Pen y Fan, Corn Du and then following the ridges back towards their starting point. Climbing over 3,000 feet in total and covering a good 12 miles, weather conditions changed by the minute from beautiful blue sky to low cloud and some rain, the wind was a bit chilly as well!

One person urgently needed blood which we administered at the scene, before they arrived at hospital.
