AW RAIL – NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK 2025

AW RAIL – NATIONAL APPRENTICESHIP WEEK 2025

National Apprenticeship Week February 2025

Here at AW Rail we are committed to the future of the rail industry and those that work within it. Over the past 5 years we have created several apprenticeships for roles within the company.

At the start of January Jerzy joined us on his journey in becoming a Quantity Surveyor under an apprenticeship which allow him to study whilst gaining firs hand real life work experience. He has already become an integral part of the team, shadowing our existing QS as well as other team members.

Jerzy came to us way back in 2023 on a school work experience placement and carried out a number of tasks as well as undertaking a site visit to Southboro Railway Viaduct where we were working at the time.

One of our long-term members of staff, Freddie Faires, joined us on a similar apprenticeship scheme whilst studying at university, we are delighted to say that Freddie recently graduated from his course (seen here at his graduation ceremony with his proud parents). In his time here Freddie became a valuable member of the team, often to be found out on site supporting our labour supply to various clients as well as undertaking works within our own projects.

Freddie has decided to take a little sabbatical from work currently whilst he takes off on some travels across the globe and we look forward to welcoming him back in the near future.

Ryan Nash has also graduated under an apprenticeship scheme and achieved an impressive 2.1 with an MSc in Quantity Surveying. Ryan now supports both our rail and construction companies with his skill and knowledge attained over the years here at AW Group. He has also supported the team at a number of national industry events.

We are always happy to speak with schools/colleges about career talks within the rail and construction industry so do please get in touch with us to see how we can help.

AW Rail Services have been delivering rail projects for several years right across the Rail &  Construction sector.

Our extensive rail experience of over  120 years, combining decades of hands-on knowledge, providing building enhancements and maintenance solutions, improving infrastructure for passengers and operators, delivering major projects, and fulfilling long-term maintenance contracts really sets us apart.

Our services are varied from structural maintenance on tunnels, bridges, foot crossings, signal gantries, to station refurbishment, platform enhancements, civils works on and around the track, the mechanism management of lineside vegetation and further afield, painting of all types of structures and lastly but perhaps most importantly the provision of rail labour, not only supporting the projects we carry out for our projects but for the provision of labour to other clients.
