AW Group – Pilgrims Hospices Cycle Challenge May 4^th

We would like to wish everyone who is taking part in this years Pilgrims Hospices Cycle Challenge the very best for Sunday’s ride across various parts of Kent. Whether you are a seasoned Pilgrims cyclist, or this is your first ride- – happy cycling and we hope that your fundraising goes well in this the 15^th Anniversary of the very first Pilgrims Cycle Challenge.

Our team, some of whom have supported this event before,  are taking part in:

50 Mile Challenge – Mat Avery (but may up his game and join the 75 miler)

75 Mile Challenge – Tom Locke, Anthony Buckley, John Smith, Liam Beadle

100 Mile Challenge – Frank Slegg

We also have staff members volunteering for the day at checkpoints on the route which takes in some of the more picturesque viewpoints and villages that Kent has to offer.

As our chosen charity of the year we hope with this challenge and our epic ride to Paris from our Folkestone HQ in June we can raise lots of money to support Pilgrims Hospices.

Our fundraising in 2025:

This year will see an intrepid team from AW Group cycle from our offices here in Folkestone along the coast to Newhaven and then a short ferry journey to France where they will head for a finish line in Paris, hopefully, in true Tour de France style on the Champs-Élysées!

Whilst there will be one or two team members who are accomplished cyclists for some of our team it will be the first time out on a bike in a very long while. The team started training early for this, and many have been giving up their time early in the morning to train in the local gym in readiness for the gruelling miles to Paris.

Why are we doing this?

This year our charity of choice is Pilgrims Hospice who we support in many ways, not only raising them vital funds for their critical care of patients across their hospice venues but also in materials for the growing number of shops they have across the county.

We will be putting together a full list of opportunities to join us in raising funds, not only supporting our cycling team but also several other key fundraising activities that the rest of the staff, clients and other stakeholders will be taking part here at AW Group.

Having supported Pilgrims Hospices as part of our extensive recycling campaign of materials from rail and construction projects, seeing first hand the incredible work that they do for end-of-life patients, it seemed fitting that we should try and raise some money to contribute to the extensive running costs of the hospices across Kent.
