AW GROUP – C-CARE GREEN RECOVERY VOUCHER
During 2022 we were lucky enough to secure a grant through the C-Care Green Recovery Voucher scheme operated by Low Carbon Kent and KCC. We were able to use this voucher to carry out an audit of the company’s sustainability and environmental activities.
We were delighted with the results of this audit and were able to take part in some great initiatives to improve upon our recycling, upcycling and sustainability programme across AW Construction and AW Rail.
As part of the funding, we were asked to take part in a short documentary talking about the outcome of this audit and the positive outcomes that have been taken from it. From this audit we have now initiated several new projects across the group operating here at our site in Folkestone and plans to implement several more on our clients projects during 2023:
- Community Wood Recycling via Woodpeckers of Kent
- Trial of various Electric Commercial Vehicles through KentRevs
- Recycling of rubble and waste concrete local to our yard here in Folkestone
- Solar PV Installation (coming 2023)
- Procurement of more electric cars for management and staff
- Upcycle Your Waste scheme
- Installation of EV Charge Points
- Better use of Fleet Management systems
- Better office recycling practices and staff awareness
